Welcome, we are a friendly canoe club with our base at the Wharf in Devizes. Our aims is to encourage as many people as possible to get on the water and enjoy our sport and help our paddlers train for the ultimate in marathon races, "The Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race" every Easter. New members are always welcome and friendly helpful advice is always on hand whether you are an experienced canoeist or want to give the sport a go, we would love to see you.

Devizes Canoe Club Awarded Clubmark accreditation

Devizes Canoe Club has just achieved accreditation for the Sport England Clubmark award. In doing so we also became the 100th British Canoe Union Club to attain a national standard that recognises our commitment to young people and the sport of canoeing. We will hold a Club presentation evening on Thursday 29th September 2011 at Devizes Wharf from 6.30pm. This will consist of some on-the-water activities involving our young paddlers and an informal awards ceremony at which we will receive our Clubmark certificate and recognise the achievements of our paddlers this year. Local councillors, council officers and representatives from Canoe England/ Wiltshire Sports Partnership will be present

Autumn Training Information

Sunday sessions are to be held at the Wharf 10:00am to Midday on the 2nd, 9th and 30th of October. Pool sessions are to be held at Dauntsey School swimming pool on the 29th Sept, 16th, 23rd and 30th November. These sessions will be held from 6pm to 7pm and cost £2 per session. Please arrive 15 mins beforehand to allow enough time to get changed so the session can start on time. Spaces are limited to 10 per session so please register with Ann by e-mail few dates for your diary regarding the Autumn training sessions on and off the water.(info@devizescanoeclub.co.uk) stating which sessions you would like to attend.

Devizes Canoe Club Inaugural Awards Evening

On the 29th September Devizes Canoe Club is pleased to announce the Devizes Canoe Club Inaugural Awards Evening. This is an evening to celebrate the Club's achievements and successes over the past year, to award certificates to all those who have completed courses, and to present some Club awards. We hope that as many of you as possible will come along to this event to celebrate the success of YOUR club. This event is to be held at the upstatirs room at the Wharf.

DW 2012 Open Meeting

An open invitation is given to all those intrested in participating in the 2012 Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race. This is to be held at the Wharf in Devizes starting at 7:30pm on the 7th September 2011.

DEVIZES CANOE CLUB SPRING PROGRAMME

The Club will be running an Introduction to Paddlesport course in kayaks and canoes. The aim of this course is to:
• Introduce people to kayaks and canoes
• Enable individuals to gain a basic level of competency to enable them to paddle at Club sessions

The courses are 6 weeks long and will run on a Saturday and Sunday, between 10am and 12pm. Course dates are:
• Every Saturday from 14th May to Saturday 18th June
• Every Sunday from 15th May to Sunday 19th June

Cost: • Under 16s - £15 for the 6 week course • 16-18 year olds and students - £20 for the 6 week course • Over 18s - £30 for the 6 week course
Course fees are payable in advance. Reduced membership fees will be applicable on successful completion of the course.
Anyone interested in joining the Club must complete one of the Club’s introductory courses or be able to demonstrate a basic level of competency to a Club Coach.

April Training Sessions

Aprils training sessions are to be held on the following dates:-
Thursday 7th
Thursday 14th
Thursday 21st
Thursday 28th
These are the three Thursdays before and Thursday after DW. These sessions are open to members who are competent paddlers.
Trainig sessions will be held at the Wharf in Devizes.
There will be no Sunday sessions in April because of DW.
Coaching sessions will resume in May. A programme will follow.

Thameside Race I Results

Some fantastic results were achived by Devizes Canoe CLub paddlers in the first Thameside Race.

Conor and Ali were 5th in the Junior men K2 in 1:51
Jack was 3rd in the Junior men K1 in 1:53
Chris was 9th in the Senior men K1 in 2:02
Mark and Polly were 9th in the mixed K2 in 2:03
